Marietta, Georgia (PR) August 6, 2008 – ABC News reported, “Heath Ledger died after an accidental overdosing on a cocktail of six prescription drugs that included painkillers and anti-anxiety medication”.

While his death was tragic it should serve as a warning to everyone taking prescribed or over the counter medication. Mixing drugs or changing doses without consulting your physician could be lethal.

Maria Fernanda Gomez, MD, is an associate professor of psychiatry at Montefiore Medical Center in New York. She reviewed prescription drugs that caused Ledger’s death for WebMD.

“The problem is not with the medications but rather the combinations. These medications have been used for years. If they are prescribed appropriately, in proper doses, they are effective and safe, she says.

Do you keep a record of all your medicines (prescription, nonprescription, natural remedies, and vitamins)?
